Immediate Consequences of being charged with Stunt Driving
One of the worst things about being charged with stunt Driving is that you don’t even get to see a judge. The law says once the officer makes a decision he has “reasonable and probable cause” to believe you have committed an offence, he must take immediate action against your driver’s license and vehicle.
first, your license is automatically suspended for 30 days. That means you won’t be able to go to work, pick up the kids after school, or buy grocery. Second, the vehicle you were operating when stopped will be impounded for 14 days. The owner of the vehicle (not matter how many vehicles they own) loses use of the vehicle for two weeks. And, you’ll be responsible for paying for both the towing fee, plus the impounding fee each day. Impounding fees vary depending on location but can range from $50-$80 per day.

While the consequences of having your driver’s license taken from you prior to trial may seem severe enough, nothing compares to the potential long term consequences of being convicted of stunt Driving. In addition to paying a minimum fine of $2000, fines can exceed $10000.
And then there’s the license suspension. On your first conviction, you will lose your license for at least one year, and possibly up to three years. So, if you received a 30 day suspension before trial, you will serve at least another year, and up to three years after conviction. You will also be assessed six demerit points and may face up to six months in jail.
Insurance premiums increase significantly with a stunt Driving conviction. Many insurance providers place a stunt Driving conviction into the “high risk” category resulting in significant premium increases (in some cases so high that coverage is cancelled).
